Getting your car ready for Winter

Winter is coming so it is a good time to check your car and make sure that it is ready for the roads. While we don’t get mountains of snow in the UK, we do get ice and in true British form, a lot of rain. Check out our tips on how to get your car ready for Winter, and drive safely…

Check your tyres

Making sure your tyres are in good condition is a key part of getting ready for those Wintery roads. Check the pressure is correct, inflate them if necessary and take the time to check for bulges, splits and tears in all of your tyres. Replace them if you come across any issues or visit your local garage for advice.

Book it in for a service

You should keep on top of regular servicing anyway but what better time to get it booked in. A full service will look at all the key parts of your car and give you peace of mind that it is in good working order to see you through the cold spell.

A Winter Breakdown kit

Having a breakdown kit on board your car can be a massive help. Things to include in this are; a shovel, torch, blanket, hi-vis jacket, screen wash, food and water, scraper, de-icer and suitable shoes in case you have to walk! It might be worth packing a few extra layers too if you haven’t already got them on.

Check all your lights

Clean your car lights so they are free from debris and dirt. Then you can check all your bulbs are working and that they are shining bright. With less daylight hours, you will be using them a lot more than in the sunnier months.
